At the May 21, 2018 School Board meeting, the Board of Education approved our department's proposal for a new conference alignment for intermediate school sports programs for the 2018-2019 school year.

What this means for Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball and Volleyball ONLY is:

FLW and Lane will join the Jr. Parkland Conference and compete with - New Berlin Eisenhower, New Berlin West, Elmbrook Pilgrim Park, Elmbrook Wisconsin Hills, Pewaukee, Mukwonago, Kettle Moraine, Oconomowoc Nature Hill, Oconomowoc Silver Lake, and Burlington.

West Milwaukee will join the Jr. SEC Conference and compete with - Cudahy, South Milwaukee, Whitnall, Greenfield, Greendale, Franklin Forest Park, Oak Creek East, Oak Creek West, Muskego Bay Lane, Muskego Lake Denoon, and St. Francis.

As a result of the Conference Alignments:

  • 6th graders will participate in a NEW after school intramural sports program for basketball and volleyball.  This will help to create a more inclusive opportunity for all interested athletes during their intermediate school transition year as there will not be a try-out process.

  • The 7th and 8th grade seasons will be: Girls Basketball,  September - October; Boys Basketball, Mid November - Mid January; Girls Volleyball, February - March

  • The Jr. Parkland Conference allows 2 teams at each grade level for boys basketball which will provide the opportunity for more boys to participate.

  • If time and space permits, we will schedule Non Conference games for FLW, Lane, and West Milw. to play against each other.

All other sports programs will remain the same (Cross Country, Wrestling, Track, Poms/Cheer).

The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District Intermediate School (6th—8th Grade) Athletics are open to all residents that attend a West Allis-West Milwaukee public school, parochial school, private school, home school or another public school outside the district that does not offer athletics.  All residents will participate for their attendance area school.  Student-Athletes will work on building their fundamentals, teamwork, and leadership skills while representing their school against local schools.  All student-athletes will need a physical on file before participating in either the first day of tryouts or the first practice.  If tryouts are required, participation fees will be due after the teams are announced.
